I have a bad habit of reading multiple books or trying to do more than one bible study at a time. I see something and think I have to have it NOW. Or else I feel like I’m missing out while other ladies are indulging in this some awesome knowledge and I’ll be behind the power curve. So ,not only am I reading “Unstoppable” by Christine Caine, I’m also listening to the audible version of “Girls With Swords, How To Carry Your Cross Like A Hero” by Lisa Bevere. Doesn’t that just sound like majorly girl warrior material??
Starting with Christine Caine, the first time I heard her speak was at my church in Memphis called Life Church. She captivated me! She is loud and seemed beautifully obnoxious and I loved every bit of her. Since then, I follow her via any avenue available.
In this book, she speaks about running the race we are meant to run. Not waiting for God to deliver a miracle or a sign while we sit on the sofa binge watching Netflix shows… ahem, who me? Rather we are to actively pursue Him and. Through this, He will present opportunities that’ll be paths to our destiny and calling. Additionally, she describes our Christian life in terms of a four-person relay and how the exchange zone is so crucial. Are you in a position to receive the baton and will you hold onto it so well as to not drop it and to run with passion to your next teammate? You MUST turn up (we Americans say “show up”, she’s an Aussie;) to be available to run this Christian race. That we ALL are a crucial piece to this race and we All have a purpose. One thing is important to know that this is the ONE race that isn’t about winning rather about finishing.
I am new to Lisa Bevere but I’m like, where has she been all my life? Three different times on different social media sites I saw her name and knew I better check her out. First I started watching her and her husband regarding marriage and then I saw this book, “Girls with Swords, How to Carry Your Cross Like A Hero.” The title alone was a done deal for me. I love power and authority and a go get’em spirit but this is much more than that. One line that hit me in the face was when she said,
“If you think were living on neutral ground, you’re wrong!”
She is not referring to current political wars, the war on terrorism, or any other human wars. Ephesians 6: 10-18 is something I’ve memorized and meditated on because it’s real and necessary. Too many times in the past I fell victim to the devils scheme because I wasn’t wearing my armor and not equipped to fight.
I purchased the audio version on Amazon and downloaded the app “Audible” so I can listen to it while I drive but it’s so good that I think I’ll purchase the entire kit (study book and book itself.)
The truth is, we are all warriors and knowing our Savior gives us a strength that no devil in hell or his lame demons can conquer.
Read Ephesians 6:10-18 and imagine yourself geared up! I made a ditty for part of it to remember (R.A.P.) our battles are not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces in the heavenly realm. Since the battle isn’t typical, neither should our weapons be. Women are fierce and powerful especially when armed with the Holy Spirit. No man on earth can mistreat us, no sad unfortunate childhood can dictate our adulthood, no amount of promiscuity can keep us unclean, and no sin is too great for God’s grace to redeem us. I am so excited to carry my cross like a freaking hero, ARE YOU?
